Ingredients

  • 500g chicken breast, cut into chunks
  • 1 cup plain yogurt
  • 2 tsp garam masala
  • 1 large onion, finely chopped
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 400g canned tomatoes, crushed
  • 1 cup heavy cream
  • Salt to taste
  • Oil for cooking
  • Fresh cilantro, for garnish

Method

  • Mix the chicken with yogurt and garam masala, let it marinate for at least 1 hour, or overnight if possible.
  • In a large skillet, heat oil over medium heat. Add the marinated chicken and cook until golden brown. Remove and set aside.
  • In the same skillet, sauté onions and garlic until onions are translucent.
  • Add crushed tomatoes to the skillet and bring to a simmer. Return the chicken to the skillet, cover, and let it simmer for about 20 minutes.
  • Stir in the cream, season with salt, and cook for another 10 minutes until the sauce thickens.
  • Garnish with chopped cilantro and serve with rice or naan.
